Ok guys time to give the forum some love. Ive designed a new gasifier system for the family of products, that will be a low cost solution. This will take the place of the Micro Unit I was working on. The M-1 just was not a practical solution and would be too expensive to produce in contrast to its functionality. So I designed a larger version that will actually be useful and it can run on multiple fuel inputs. Yes this machine will be able to run wood chips, wood pellets and also charcoal!!.
The design intent is to offer this machine so it can run on chips produced from a small wood chipper that you would find at a local box store. The pellet fuel carburetor comes standard with the unit; however, if chip fuel is desired this is easily removed and converts the hearth into a standard downdraft gasifier. However, running on chips will present some challenges, flow issues and fuel density per volume are the main challenges. This is the case for any chip fuel gasifier in this micro scale. However these challenges can be overcome. Flow issues can be resolved with very simply automation that just about anyone can assemble on their own. We will cover this as we go. We will offer an expansion hopper for this unit as well. This will extend run times regardless if your running pellet fuels or wood chips. Wood chips are roughly 2 to 3 times less energy dense per volume. However since a larger hopper will need to reduce in size funneling the fuel into the reactor this can create bridging and flow restrictions. So a hopper shaker will need to be employed to overcome this on this hopper upgrade. As mentioned the pellet fuel carburetor comes standard, so you can take advantage of this easier to use fuel. In pellet fuel mode, you will have 3 times the run times per hopper loading. Major increase in gas energy density and cleanliness. With the pellet fuel carburetor; hopper moisture is eliminated and this moisture is converted into hydrogen instead of migrating into the hopper and absorbing into your fuel. The reactor has a much higher water shift reducing condensate dropping, resulting in much less filter servicing. The gas will be cleaner so less your filter has to work to clean it.
The new unit will come standard with an integrated cyclone ash filter. This will make adapting to a barrel drum filter very easy. We will do a how to video to convert a small barrel drum into a very effective bag filter. We have a very easy method to create the bag filters out of simple felt filtering materials with a packaging staple. You can make replacement bags in minutes.
